Liz and Dave's Aussie Adventures
Our Garden

As you all know we are new to the gardening scene, so going from keeping one low maintenance gernaium alive to taking on a tropical jungle is quite a step.  Luckily our garden is all trees, so low maintenance but high in tropical creatures!!

Arrrrggghhhh!

Look at this beast!! This is what Dave was confronted with when trying to meander through the garden one evening!  Apparently it is a Garden Orb Web Spider. Harmless (ish!) just causes pain, nausea, numbness, dizziness and swelling, but you should be able to walk away from it!

However it is not all bad. We also get some amazing birds passing through our garden. Sadly to Dave's disgust they are not of the 18 year old variety that live next door, but Cockatoo's, Parrots and crows!  In fact the birds rule over here.  You don't need an alarm clock because they wake you every morning at dawn! Oh and forget the deadly snakes and vicious spiders it is actually the birds that pose the most threat.  The variety reponsible is the MAGPIE! They are lethal.  Signs are posted in most parks warning you about them and woe betide if you go out on a bike because they will get you!  They lurk on overhead wires then as some poor unsuspecting pedestrian or cyclist goes by they swoop, real low and sqark and go to peck your head. Liz has been a victim on a couple of occasions now and it is not pleasant at all!  Anyway, these piccies show some of the nicer birds that pass through our garden.

Another thing gardens are good for is barbequing.  As we have a deck we don't need to do our Barbequing in the 'dangerous garden! Here is a photo of our first Aussie BBQ!
